Spotted: Bonti thriving in the wild!

Watching her move confidently through the forest is pure joy, because you helped her get there. 

Bonti is wild today, because of you!   

One year ago, in January 2025, Bonti was released into the Busang Ecosystem in East Borneo, alongside her friends Mary and Jojo. As soon as Bonti’s transport crate opened, she headed straight up into the canopy. Strong, confident and ready for her new life. 

It was an amazing sign that she felt safe and excited to explore her new forest home. 

And today, Bonti is looking even more confident in the wild! Take a look at this recent video, where she seems very comfortable and at home in the forest. 

Thanks to your support, Bonti’s new home is carefully protected, and our teams on the ground regularly monitor her and other released orangutans. They make sure each one is healthy, and adapting well to life in the wild. 

Since her release, Bonti has been joined by Popi, Charlotte, and Surti, who also found their freedom late last year. Bonti was so thrilled to reunite with Popi, she even chased the monitoring team away in excitement! She was so glad to have a familiar friend with her in the forest, that she couldn’t resist the warmest and wildest orangutan welcome to her pal. 

Together, this gorgeous group is forming a growing community of orangutans living free together in this protected forest, all thanks to you!

It brings us so much joy to see Bonti thriving in this wild environment. And we hope it brings you just as much joy too!
