This story begins with four stolen orangutans, and with you.
Because of your kindness, four young orangutans have been rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in Thailand. Their names are Jay, Bow, Noon and Raiking. Each one was taken from their mother and forest home, sold on the black market, and shipped overseas.
What happened to them was heartbreaking. What happened next is because of you.
Thanks to your support, these young orangutans have been brought safely home to Sumatra, where they belong. Their future looks wild again, and it’s because of you. You’re giving them a second chance at life in the wild, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.
This is Noon and Raiking, feeling safe, loved and cared for at our SRA Rescue Centre. All thanks to you!
Getting them home was not easy. Over two long days, they travelled by plane and road. For such young orangutans, it was tiring and frightening. But because of you, every step of the journey was carefully planned and successful.
Today, Jay, Bow, Noon and Raiking are safe at our SRA Rescue Centre in North Sumatra. And they are doing better than we could ever have hoped.
They are playful and curious. They are building nests, spending time together, and showing no signs of fear. Although they don’t yet have the skills to survive in the wild, these are all strong signs of wild behaviour, and a powerful indicator that, with time and care, they can one day return to the forest.
Because of you, their story has changed. They are healing, learning, and growing stronger every day.
Your support is vital in the fight against the illegal wildlife trade. By standing with us, you are helping to stop trafficking, and ensure rescued orangutans always have a safe path home.
Thank you for helping to rescue Jay, Bow, Noon and Raiking, and for giving them the long-term care they need to recover, relearn life in the forest, and move toward freedom.
