Sudin

Thanks to your support, Sudin continues to make wonderful progress as he grows more confident and capable in the forest.

Sudin munching on some forest greens

Back in Jungle School, he is thriving alongside his best friend Siti, with the two often seen feeding, playing, and exploring together throughout the day.

Sudin’s time in the forest is now largely focused on what matters most for his future - feeding and learning to survive. He spends much of his day foraging and has developed an impressive natural diet, sampling over 40 different forest food species. Wild fruits are a clear favourite, especially liana and kuduk biawak, and he shows great enthusiasm when searching for and enjoying these natural treats.

His skills in the canopy are also improving steadily. Sudin is becoming more confident moving through the mid to upper levels of the forest, climbing and travelling between trees with increasing ease. These are essential skills that will one day help him live independently in the wild.

One of the most encouraging signs of Sudin’s progress is his growing independence at night. He is now consistently building strong, well-constructed nests and carefully choosing safe sleeping spots before sunset. During overnight stays in the forest, he appears comfortable and well adapted, relying less on supplementary feeding and more on his own abilities.

Siti remains an important part of Sudin’s journey. Whether they are feeding side by side, chasing each other through the canopy, or resting together, their close bond continues to support their learning and development. Alongside other orangutans like Inox, Shielda, and Sule, Sudin is building important social skills.

Each day, Sudin is growing stronger, more confident, and more independent - taking steady steps toward a future back in the wild.

Thank you for being part of Sudin’s journey and helping him on his path to freedom.
